Memories and Maternity with Sarah & Cheuk

I had the honor of documenting this precious season of life for Sarah and Cheuk, as they await the arrival of their little one: Elliot. For the location we decided upon a special place for the couple. San Francisco- the city where they met, fell in love, started a home together as a married couple, and where they grew their family. Sarah and Cheuk wanted to commemorate the memories spent together in this city close to their hearts, as they aren’t sure where life may take them in the future years. We decided upon two of San Francisco’s most iconic locations: The Golden Gate Bridge & The Palace of Fine Arts.

It can be quite tricky weather-wise shooting during San Francisco’s Winter Months due to the fog and rain. But the sun definitely showed up this day after a relentless week of rain and we were able to get some beautiful light for these shots including some at blue hour when the sun had just set. Such a perfect day for a beautiful family!

Hillside with Hanna & David

I’m not really sure how to explain in words my utter excitement in sharing this session of my best friend Hanna and her fiancé David!!! My girl’s getting married Y’all! I was overjoyed when I got a call from David at the end of last year letting us know that he was intending to propose to Hanna. The excitement only grew after they got engaged officially and we started talking about all things wedding and engagement. It was an absolute honor and incredible joy to celebrate their engagement and capture this special season of Hanna and David’s relationship, as they plan their future together and await their wedding day!

It is a gift to know you my dear friend Hanna. You have the kindest spirit, most generous heart, and gentle soul of humility. Not only are you one of the most beautiful souls I have ever known (and also ridiculously pretty) but by knowing you and being friends with you, you have helped me to better see God for who he truly is and his own love for me. Thank you for helping me live intentionally, reminding me of what’s important always, and encouraging me to treasure Christ by pointing me to Him constantly. Your love for Jesus and commitment to live with purpose is admirable. So thankful for you beyond any words and so glad that there will never be a parting of ways with us.

To David, we are so glad God brought you into Hanna's life and thus also ours. You know we have been #teamdavid since day one. Thank you for loving our girl well and not only saying but also showing your commitment to her through the highs and lows. Your heart for the body of believers is so big and we have truly been encouraged and enjoyed seeing you and Hanna grow increasingly together as one through your relationship.

We eagerly await being witnesses at your wedding and celebrating you with much joy for the next season of your relationship. We know it’s gonna be a really good one and can’t wait to share in life with you both into the coming years!

Chasing Sunsets with Nicole & Luke

Nicole and Luke were originally scheduled to get married at a destination wedding last year but then Covid hit, postponing their plans. One good thing about this set-back was that we got to spend time with them and have this sunset beachside engagement session. Luke and Andrew (my photo assistant/husband) are childhood best friends and grew up with each other not too far from where we held this session. Luke was a groomsman in our wedding and Andrew will also be a groomsman for Luke and Nicole’s wedding later this year!

Andrew and I had gone location scouting for the perfect beach spot a few days earlier but when we got to the chosen location on the date of our photoshoot, we were not prepared for the insane wind and the high tides. We quickly had to shift our original plans and drive to another beach location while also trying to make sure we didn’t run out of light, as the sun was setting. We are so grateful for Nicole and Luke’s easy-going demeanor and for battling the high wind with us on this day.

Although taking photos for them was so special the best part of the day was spending time with them, laughing over a shared dinner meal, and catching up on life. These moments seem to get rarer with each passing year and we were so thankful for this time together. It was truly special seeing them again, especially after a year of limited social gathering and lost time in seeing family and friends. Nicole and Luke we are so excited to celebrate you two later this year in Cabo!
